The EGALURG project was a European network of cooperation <\/strong>to improve healthcare in isolated communities, emergencies and disasters on both sides of the Pyrenees. The SA-URG project is a continuation of<\/strong> of EGALURG<\/strong> to address the problems of accessibility to health services in the Pyrenean cross-border area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

About<\/strong> the project<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

France and Spain share a 656 km border delimited by the Pyrenees mountain range. This geographical situation makes land communication between the two countries difficult and may limit access to emergency assistance for the populations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

Thanks to the EGALURG project (POCTEFA EFA 305\/19) we have created a cross-border cooperation network for the promotion of equity in emergency and\/or disaster medical assistance by overcoming legal obstacles, specialized training in emergencies and the development of innovation and technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of the POCTEFA program, EGALURG is focused on investment in social and health infrastructures.\u00a0<\/strong>that contribute to national, regional and local development and reduce health inequalities. It is also closely aligned with the line of analysis and intervention of specific risks and the development of disaster management systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mission and objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the European EGALURG network is to reduce inequalities in access to emergency assistance.<\/strong> both in remote areas and at accident sites. To achieve this goal, three specific objectives have been established:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Objective 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harmonize patient care practices and protocols to anticipate and manage an emergency or crisis situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Objective 2.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promote comprehensive and consistent training on both sides of the border to ensure better collaboration between professionals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Objective 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Develop innovative tools to increase efficiency in an emergency or disaster situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The European EGALURG project is being developed thanks to the cooperation and networking of four partner organizations. Leading the initiative is The Toulouse Hospital Center<\/strong> (Occitania), an entity that leads and coordinates the Navarrabiomed - Miguel Servet Foundation<\/strong> (Navarre), at Emergency Medical System of Catalonia<\/strong> and to the Basque Coast Hospital Center<\/strong> located in Bayonne (New Aquitaine). Each institution relies on the active participation of a group of partner entities in each region that collaborate in the various activities of the project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
