From 7 to 14 July 2025, several healthcare professionals from the SA-URG project took part as observers in the medical emergency device of the San Fermín running of the bulls, held in Pamplona. This activity forms part of the cooperation, exchange, and continuous training initiatives promoted by the project to improve healthcare response in high-risk situations.
This year, medical personnel from CHU Toulouse, the Catalonia Medical Emergency System (SEM), the Centre hospitalier Côte basque and Aragón had the opportunity to closely observe the organisation, deployment, and operational management of one of the most demanding emergency systems on the national calendar.
During their visit, the observers attended the early morning briefings at the Dr. San Martín Centre, accompanied the medical teams along the bull run route, and witnessed the activation of protocols, resource coordination, and emergency response in a controlled but high-risk environment.
SA-URG would like to thank all participating professionals for their involvement, as well as the organising team of the Pamplona medical device for their excellent welcome and collaboration. Experiences like these strengthen cross-border cooperation and help improve healthcare response capabilities during large-scale events.
Organized by the Navarre Emergency Department and the Technical Directorate of Vital Emergency Care of the SNS-O of the Government of Navarre and Navarrabiomed.
